Import & Export Advisory Services

The short answer

SARN Consulting advises on import and export operations in Pakistan: Weboc registration, customs tariff classification, sales tax and income tax withholding at import, DTRE and export-scheme compliance, and documentation that clears ports without penalties.

Trading across borders means customs, banking, taxation and sector rules all at once. Our import-export advisory sets up your trade compliance correctly — registrations, HS coding, documentation — and solves the clearance and withholding issues that eat into margins.

Whether you import machinery or export goods and services, we keep the paperwork aligned so goods and money keep moving.

What's included

  • WEBOC and customs registration setup
  • HS code classification and duty planning
  • Import/export documentation review (LC, BL, invoices)
  • Sales tax and withholding treatment of trade transactions
  • Exporter registrations and claim documentation support

How it works

  1. Trade profile review

We review what you import or export, through which ports and clearing agents, and identify where duty, tax or documentation leaks money today.

  2. Registration and setup

Weboc, NTN, sales tax registration and any scheme-specific enrolments are put in order so your declarations file under the right status.

  3. Classification and costing

HS codes and valuation approaches are fixed deliberately — the single biggest driver of duty, withholding and audit exposure on every consignment.

  4. Ongoing compliance

Sales tax on imports, withholding statements, export proceeds realisation and refund documentation are tracked on a calendar with a named contact.

Why SARN Consulting

Import-export trouble in Pakistan is rarely the shipment — it is the paperwork history behind it: wrong classifications, unclaimed refunds, sales tax gaps that surface as demand notices years later. SARN builds the compliance trail as you trade, so every consignment adds to a clean record instead of a future liability. Fixed fees, and a customs-age advisor who has seen your exact category before.

Local knowledge, Pakistan-wide coverage

Islamabad-based traders move goods through Karachi's ports and the northern land routes into Central Asia and Afghanistan, and the federal capital hosts the importers of record for countless government-tender supplies. Whether you are bringing machinery through Port Qasim or exporting software services under IT export rules, we align the customs and tax side with how trade actually flows from the capital.

Frequently asked questions

What registrations do I need to start importing?

At minimum: an NTN with filer status, a business bank account, WEBOC registration and customs registration, plus sales tax registration where applicable. We run the full checklist so your first consignment does not stall at the port for a missing registration.

Why is my import being assessed at a higher duty than expected?

Usually the cause is HS classification or valuation: the declared code or value does not match customs records. We review the classification and documentation, prepare the correction or appeal where justified, and set up declarations that avoid repeat holdups.

Do exporters get tax benefits in Pakistan?

Export income enjoys concessional treatment, and several export sectors operate under special final-tax regimes. The details depend on your sector and structure. We align your registrations and filings so you receive every benefit you are legally entitled to claim.

What is Weboc and do I need it?

Weboc is Pakistan Customs' online clearance system — every serious importer and exporter needs an account with the correct business profile. We register it, configure the user roles, and make sure your declarations flow through it correctly.

How do sales tax refunds on exports work?

Exporters bear sales tax on inputs which they claim back through the refund regime — a process notorious for delays when documentation is weak. We prepare refund claims with the invoice and banking trail the FBR's system checks for, which is what separates paid refunds from stuck ones.
